We needed an easier way to audit websites, so we created it.
You don’t need multiple subscriptions to enterprise-level auditing applications to understand whether your website is accessible, discoverable, and performing well. You need people with expertise and a single tool like BetaSweep. BetaSweep focuses on those core areas—accessibility, SEO & AI readability, and page speed performance—in one full-site scan. It explains issues in simple language and provides the technical details to address them properly.
Why We Built BetaSweep
BetaSweep was created by Corey Machanic, a Burlington, Vermont–based UX/UI designer and frontend developer (opens in a new window), in collaboration with the team behind Flavor Plate, the restaurant website platform (opens in a new window) he co-founded in 2011.
After decades of designing and building websites for organizations ranging from small local businesses to Fortune 500 companies, Corey saw the same problem from both sides: auditing a website was often more complicated than it needed to be. Once a website launches, the people responsible for it often have no easy way to see what’s happening across the entire site.
Websites continue to change after launch. Content gets added, templates evolve, plugins get updated, links break, and new accessibility, SEO, AI readability, and page speed issues appear. Yet the tools used to build and manage websites rarely bring all of these concerns together in one place.
Instead, they’re often treated as separate problems—with separate tools, subscriptions, and reports. But they’re closely connected; changes that improve one area can often improve others, too.
That’s why we created BetaSweep: one tool that audits an entire website in one pass. It combines trusted foundations like axe-core for accessibility and Lighthouse for page speed with custom-built analysis for SEO & AI readability, spell checking, and HTML validation.
The result is a unified, shareable analysis that helps you see what’s wrong, understand why it matters, and know what to do next.
Built for the People Responsible for a Website
You shouldn’t have to be a developer to know when your website needs attention. BetaSweep is designed to make complex problems understandable for the people managing a website, while providing enough technical detail for developers, agencies, and other experts to act on what’s found.
Whether you manage a website yourself or work with a developer, agency, or internal team, BetaSweep gives everyone a shared view of what needs attention—from the first scan through ongoing maintenance and improvement.
Simple enough to understand. Detailed enough to act on. Independent enough to trust.
